What is Duality?
Duality is, put simply, the concept of opposing forces. Two ends of a spectrum: light and dark, large and small, happy and sad, rich and poor, right and wrong, power and powerless, man and woman. In the 3rd Dimensional construct, we are here to experience Duality as a means to evolve and expand our understanding, knowledge and wisdom as a soul.
In the world we live in though, it has become easy to see these opposing forces as a means to separate ourselves from one another. Competition, us versus them, and so on, become the norm.
At one end of the spectrum, we could see it as being an individual. However, when we pit ourselves against one another, there is no sense of unity. There is division, which you could agree, in extreme cases is at the core of war, battles and struggle. When we use duality as a means to elevate ourselves over others, we lose our connection to the core of ourselves.
“We are here to awaken from our illusion of separateness.” –THICH NHAT HANH
Duality as Construct
If you are here, you may know that we are made of energy, vibration and frequency. We are a part of the larger universe – which is also made of the same energy, vibration and frequency. We are the universe experiencing itself. And in this universe, there are many possibilities, endless facets of what could be. When you take this concept and see it through this lens of the greater whole, of all that exists and could exist – these aspects of duality are less about separation and more about ALL that is possible.
What if these opposing forces had a larger meaning and power to them? We may not agree with all of the possibilities. Some of them may not be for us. And there is power and clarity and direction in that.
See, when we detach from the emotion of, say, sadness we allow ourselves to be in a place of observation. We may notice “I really don’t like to see animals suffering.”
Now, instead of getting lost in that and feeding more into that duality – we can work with it.
What is on the other side of this sadness? Happiness. In the example of an animal suffering, you could then draw your attention to what would feel more happy in this situation, "I will care for as many animals that I can or do what I can to help them."
The purpose of this duality is to birth meaning, and then to allow our souls to evolve into oneness. Would you know what happiness felt like without knowing sadness? Light without dark? Appreciation without grief/loss? Both ends of the spectrum are part of the larger whole. When we accept that, we open ourselves to learn how to work with duality. Therein lies a power.

What is Transmuting?
An alchemist is known to turn a base metal into gold through a series of operations known as transmutation. This same process can be applied to duality – turning lower vibrational energies (emotions) into higher vibrational energies. Turning lower vibrational aspects of our souls/self, into higher, more purified and whole vibrational aspects.
“The key to understanding alchemy is to realize that alchemical thought is extremely dynamic and takes place on three levels at once: the physical, the psychological, and the spiritual. Thus turning lead into gold meant not only physically changing the base metal into the noble metal, but also transforming base habits and emotions into golden thoughts and feelings, as well as transmuting our dark and ignoble souls into the golden light of spirit. By developing this ability to think and work on all three levels of reality at once (becoming “thrice greatest”), the alchemists created a spiritual technology that applied not only to their laboratories but also to their own personalities and to their relationships with other people–and with God.” – DENNIS WILLIAM HAUCK, THREE LEVELS, SORCERER'S STONE: A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO ALCHEMY
Why Transmute?
Law of Attraction states that we get what we focus on. If we are wanting to change our circumstances, we must change what we are focusing on. When you focus on bad, loss, anxiety – your focus creates more of it. The way you perceive a situation, hear a comment or take criticism, for instance, will be fueled by this negative state of mind you are already in. That then bleeds out into your entire world - your relationships, your job, the enjoyment (or lack thereof) you get from the things you love.
Thus, to create the reality you would prefer, you need to get good at focusing. This is where transmuting comes in, because we live in a world of duality. When we learn to transmute, we learn to flow with ease through any duality that is presented to us.
How Do You Transmute?
The answer, put simply, is to be aware and conscious about where you focus. Transmuting is really just a fancy word for learning how to refocus yourself – shifting focus from the "problem" and allowing space for understanding what's under it, and then refocusing your thoughts, beliefs and actions on the clarity and solution this inspired. Remember, you are turning “lead” into “gold” metaphysically.
When dealing with emotions or energy, you can apply the principles of transmutation:
First: We must accept the fact there is more than one perspective, side or possibility – as there is an opposing side to a positive emotion. We may or may not agree with them, or like experiencing them but they exist... accept this.
Second: Rather than judge and get lost in loss, competiton, revenge or lack – identify the emotion, simply detach and observe. Do not get caught up in it. KNOW there is information, wisdom and guidance coming forth to you.
Third: When we experience less than ideal circumstances/feelings, we can find our way to what is ideal. Duality is contrast, and in the contrast we are able to feel our way to what we prefer. That is the gift of duality: CLARITY. The gift of getting clear on what we do want in order to shift our focus THERE.

FREE How to Transmute Tool
I have also created a FREE easy to use tool to help you get into the mode of transmuting – just click the button below:
When you allow yourself to see the oneness in everything, transmuting becomes a state of being. It is natural. When you get good at it, the way in which you move throughout your world completely shifts – what you see, how you perceive, how you process things completely shifts, in alignment with what now feels good. You open yourself up to ALL possibility. Additionally, you feel more compassion and understanding for those around you... instead of conflict, you see their soul as well. Expanding this concept of being part of a larger whole, all is one, even further.
All is one and one is all.
What once felt defeating, now feels light and you can see that it is leading you. Leading where? To whatever you desire! Navigating duality leads you to seeing the purpose of all ends of the spectrum. And in that is all possibility. When you focus your mind in such a way to see the wholeness – to accept with pain comes joy, with grief comes appreciation, with hardtimes the path to good times is revealed.
From this place, we can learn to be easier with ourselves, with others, and with life itself.
We can find humor. And, when we laugh we are more able to open to what feels good again.
We may even be able to see the perspectives of others easier.
Use this simple tool in order to navigate duality within this world... feel your way to living a life you truly love!
The more you become aware of your thought pattern, the more you can practice this... and the more you do, the easier BEING it becomes.
You simply are flowing on a path to living your Heaven on Earth.
And so it is.
